Sorry guys have been absent but it's just been a crazy two weeks , more on that in the next Tumbler, hopefully soon. This picture got selected for an exhibition in the PNCA .It was an honour to be chosen by such esteemed judges amongst whom some had got 5 lifetime achievement awards, gold medals for their photography and were patrons of PNCA.It was such an honour to be selected amongst the thousands of participants from all over.
This Tumbler is a snippet from the past when I'd just got into digital photography. I was intrigued by these Refugee children who would come to collect the papers from homes and in the markets, and slowly over time we became friendly.
However they were so shy when I took out my camera to take their pictures, even though they knew me. Then I found out their 5 year old boy cousin was rapidly telling them not to take their picture ,so I quickly shot some pictures of him and that seemed to appease him. However they still wouldn't let me take a picture of them , and suddenly my eye fell to their feet.
Their toes were clenched because the sandals were three sizes too big. The little girl's feet were stained with the realities of life. While our children have the same stains of mud and dirt, the only difference being it's usually after a hard day of playing : Maryam's was after a hard day of work.
This image wasn't intended for the competition!!! I wasn't happy with the one I was sending so I replaced it as I was getting out of the car.I had to email this soft copy as another image one was on the CD.All that craziness and it still got selected. So anyone out there doubting your self : GO With Your Gut INSTICNT cuz nine times outta Ten it will be Right. And we can all be humbled by the occasional mistake can't we ;)
